About Joona

I'm a graphic designer and marketing specialist who lives right at the intersection between the two. I studied Studio Art with an emphasis in Graphic Design at Grand Valley State University, where I developed a love for just about every creative outlet. I'm always on the hunt for a new medium to experiment with. Lately, that's been digicam photography.

My path to design began a bit unconventionally. Before falling in love with it, I spent years as a full-time musician, managing my band's promotional materials, merchandise, and marketing. As you can imagine, with no budget and no formal art education, I made it work with whatever I could pull together.

That's really where my resourcefulness and hands-on creativity come from. A resourcefulness I still bring to every project (and it's why music-related projects will always have a special place in my heart).

These days, I lean on traditional methods like hand sketching and scanning to bring that same authenticity into my work, whether I'm building out a brand, creating content, or designing something for print.

I'm currently focused on projects within the music industry and with small to mid-size West Michigan businesses. If that sounds like you, I'd love to hear from you.
